Message from the President Dear Colleagues, It is with great honour and privilege that I invite you to attend the Inaugural Scientific Congress of the Australasian Hernia Society on 11-13 July 2008 at the Thredbo Alpine Hotel. Despite hernia repair being the commonest performed procedure in general surgery the gold standard has not been achieved. The local organising committee has worked tirelessly to create a scientific programme that will appeal to all general surgeons. Stimulating debates will be chaired by world renowned surgeons in hernia surgery including office bearers of the European, American and Asia Pacific Hernia Societies. Thredbo will provide a wonderful environment for delegates and their families to enjoy skiing and a perfect opportunity for networking and camaraderie. Hanh Tran |
